The mystery of a forgotten world lingers in this painting, where gothic tracery rises behind the scene and a pomegranate bleeds its jeweled seeds into the quiet air. It's flowers and branches envelop a statue of a woman whose face appears twice, once distant and once impossibly close, as though the work remembers her in fragments. She sits in contemplation, half claimed by shadow. Every element feels unearthed rather than painted, as if the canvas itself were holding a story that has never been fully told.
